where are all the people?

This is where my rhetoric class and philosophy classes take place. Usually there are a lot of people there but today there was no one!

Any guesses as to why the CNN politics bus is here?

Fam Visit and Interesting Stats

Last weekend, my parentals and lovely brother visited for the weekend! woooo! Party with Tom and Lynn and John!

We started off the day meeting at Kinnick, where they actually beat us, but oh well. Headed to Carver Hawkeye for some open basketball practice and then went to the game! After the game (which we won) we went to Applebees and ate yummy food. Then dumped dad off at the hotel due to a headache and then chilled at my dorm for a little bit. Sunday we basically just shopped. It was an exciting weekend!

Okay, so I signed into Blogger today and the first thing that popped up was about my blog views and where they come from and such. I found these super interesting!

On 09/19, I had 10 page views, 09/18 I have 16!
Last month: 1,093 page views.
I've had 3 views from Russia and 1 from Germany.

I think it's so cool!
But, if you read my blog and I don't know you or if I do know you, please comment! I wanna know where all these views are coming from!

no ACL tear for me!

This girl spent her afternoon at her very first student health visit today! It was kinda scary because I had to fill out a bunch of insurance papers and stuff and I was scared I was going to do it wrong, but I didn't!

I went to get my knee checked out after my medicus mentor thought I may have torn my ACL. SO! After hearing that, I thought I better just go get it check out and also I was in major pain! Turns out, when I slipped on cardboard back in July, I should've gone to the doctor then because my knee was severely sprained. Now, it's still feeling the after effects of that and all the walking I do on a daily basis. I'm just really glad it isn't torn and no ligament damage and what not! wooo! :)

But anyways, like I mentioned above, the group I'm part of, Medicus, and I applied to get a medicus mentor, basically a med student that is your guide and such. And I was one of the first 200 to apply so I got one!

He's really cool- he's lived in places like Thailand, Boston, Colorado, and California and now he is at the U to study pediatric oncology! His wife is a physical therapist here so they seem pretty cool! We have to get together at least like once a month and such just to say that we are participating in the program.

Another fun fact, the other girl in my group (there's only 2 of us) is actually from Sheldon! How ironic is that?!?!?!

Anyways.. off to math class. Have a great weekend!

boring.

Seriously, there's nothing good to write about this week and no pictures as of right now so I'll just ramble on about life.

I have been selected for the Medicus Mentorship program and so I will be paired with a graduate med student! So I'm pretty excited about that because I'll be able to ask them a bunch of questions and they can help me with school work and what not. So that meeting is tonighttttttt!

But that's like it, for real. Sorry this is so boring but there's nothing to report. :(

On the plus side- it's only supposed to be 60 tomorrow! oh heck yeah! I'm sick of this 90 stuff. It's a little over the top.

the last three days.. post 3

Saturday: Iowa/ISU game

Okay! so! at this point in time, my feet were absolutely killing me.. then you add a 3 hour football game in there.. I'll just leave it at that.

Good thing I had a blast at the game! Even though it didn't turn out as we wanted to, we still had fun and made memories and took some pics!

First thing we did was get up and get ready (obviously) and went and ate then we headed downtown/to the field/to people watch wherever there was a mass number of people! It was fun to see differences in people and to see how craaaazy people get! There are just people EVERYWHERE and anywhere you can find a spot! While we were walking around, I realized I felt like we were loners since everyone else had a big group of people, so we texted up my new friend Jake and it turns out the people he was with ditched him to go drink! So we met up with him and walked around and did our version of tailgating. I actually saw a couple from Estherville so I got to talk to them! wooohoooo!

After we had walked around for awhile, we headed to Carver Hawkeye arena where they hold public practices! It was sweet and man those boys are cute with their shirts off! ;) But we didn't realize this until about 11:50 so we only watched until about 12 and then we headed to wait in line since the gates open at 1. We didn't want a bad spot!

I'm so so glad we waited in line for so long, it was so worth it! Our view was awesome! (side note: I'm also glad we headed over at about 10:45) Here's some pics from the day..

the last three days.. post 2

Friday: Obama and Biden come to IC.

OF COURSE I WENT! How could you not?! I mean seriously, even if you don't like him or believe in what he does, it was a free ticket to go see the president of the country. COME ON.

The doors opened at 1, but I had class until 1:30 with the other girl I was going with so we started standing in like at 1:30 and we stood. and we stood. and we stood. and we stood. until about 6:45 when I got home! I can't imagine how the people who had been sitting since 8:30 felt. OMG. It was so worth it though! Even though my feet were basically going to fall off of my body, it was truly an amazing experience to hear from and be so close to the president of the country! I am so glad I skipped a class to go, I would have been really mad if I hadn't gone. It's so weird to think that they had flown from New Hampshire to Iowa City for an hour speech! I'm so glad they did though! It was awesome! I had lots of fun and couldn't stop taking pictures! :)
